What a wonderful evening I had yesterday with Jacque Boissinot, staff photographer for the Canadian Press. 3 hours in a coffee shop with a guy with so much experience is so enlightening.

At the end of the night, he asked me if I ever had a Canon EOS-1D Mark II in my hands. I never have. He so takes his camera out of his bag (equipped at this very moment with a 70-200 f2.8) and makes me hold it. I was holding about 10000$ of gear in my hands. Just for fun, he asks me « aim the sign up there and shoot ONE picture. » Knowing about the awesome 8.5 frames per second of the 1D Mark II, I was expecting a quick reaction of the camera, but never that much!. I press the shutter. CLAC-CLAC-CLAC-CLAC-CLAC! 5 pictures!

“No”, says Boissinot with a fake angry voice. “I said ONE picture”. I try again. CLAC-CLAC-CLAC!.

“ONE picture, Francis”

Third try: CLAC!

Here I go, 3 try to be able to take just one picture. A so beautiful gear!

Fantastique soirée avec Jacque Boissinot de la Presse Canadienne hier soir. trois heures autour d’un café en compagnie d’un photographe avec autant d’expérience et de vécu, c’est extrêmement enrichissant.

À la fin de la soirée, il me demande si j’ai déjà tenu un Canon EOS-1D Mark II dans mes mains. Suite à ma réponse négative, il me sort son appareil (équipé à ce moment d’une 70-200 f2.8). Je tenais pour plus de 10000 $ d’équipement dans les mains.

À la blague, il me dit : « vise la pancarte là-bas, et prend UNE photo ». Connaissant le formidable 8.5 images par seconde du 1D Mark II, je m’attendais à une certaine réactivité, mais jamais à ce point.

J’appuie sur le déclencheur. CLAC-CLAC-CLAC-CLAC-CLAC! 5 photos!

« Non », me gronde-t-il à la blague. « J’ai dit UNE photo ».

J’appuie à nouveau. CLAC-CLAC-CLAC. « UNE photo, Francis ». Un troisième essai : CLAC!

Voilà, 3 essais pour être capable de n’effectuer qu’un seul déclenchement. Une très belle machine!
